Extreme Makeover, Storehouse Edition

Every time we go in Lowes, Lily wants to drive the "tractors"!

Dear Friends and Prayer Warriors,

Thank you so much for praying for our ministry last week as we hosted the group from Denton Bible Church in Denton, TX.  The Lord really blessed the week.  It's amazing how the Lord can bring together a group of people with such different and unique skill sets to accomplish great things for his glory.

One of the primary objectives of this trip was to make our facility more conducive to counseling and sharing the gospel message with people who come to us for help.

Since we first began to utilize this building, it has housed an industrial air compressor (right) that powers the machines in the factory next door.  In a confined space with concrete walls and floor, it was difficult to have a conversation with someone while the machine was running.

So, the team built a new home for the air compressor on the back of our building and moved it.

Before.

After.  Now the compressor is in this new room addition.
To help us avoid the periodic flooding we used to have, they installed gutters and put a french drain around the building, which is the fresh line of dirt in this picture.
Then they built some walls and finished the previous compressor room as an office/counseling room and food pantry.
This is the new interior door from the counseling room into the warehouse space.
They also cut in a new front entrance.

Before.

After.  The door on the left enters the new counseling room/office.

To help us with heating, they installed a drop ceiling throughout the building and replaced our old sliding steel door with insulated swinging doors.

Before, we had approximately 22 feet high ceiling, which made it impossible to heat in the winter.
Now, our ceilings are approximately 11 feet high.  Not only will this make heating possible, it also looks 100% better.
To provide decor for our new office, they did a custom painting.

We cannot express how thankful we are for all the hard work that went into making last week a reality, and then to the team for pulling it off.  Our prayer is that we'll now have more opportunities than ever before to counsel people and to share the gospel and the love of Christ with them in a meaningful way.

However, this group did a lot more than just work on our building.  Some of the group spent time knocking on doors in an apartment complex and trailer park sharing the gospel with people, and at least one young man made a profession of faith.  Some of them served a meal at a local soup kitchen and blessed the people there.  A handful of folks striped a couple of parking lots for our partner churches.  Someone taught almost every night they were here at the men's and the women's ranch of U-Turn for Christ.  And they all served alongside us for our first Thursday food distribution last week. It was an awesome, exhausting, encouraging week of serving the Lord.  We're thankful for our new friends, and excited to see how the Lord continues to bless their labor going forward!

On a family note, we're doing quite well.  Lily is a delight.  She's full of life and energy, and she talks every moment she's awake.  One of the guys on the team asked me if Lily repeats everything you say, because she'd been doing that with him, and then one morning this week she looked at me and said out of the blue, "I'm a little parrot." To which I responded, "yes you are."

Things you can be praying for this week:

1. Please pray for our team as we develop a new flow of operations at our Storehouse.

2.  Please pray for Daniel as he prepares to preach Friday night at the U-Turn for Christ service.

Friday!

She's a sweet little goober.

Morning silliness even makes mommy laugh!
